What Is New With Sony

Sony had the market cornered the last generations home consoles, but they have been having a little trouble with the current generation although with the recent price drop of their Playstation 3 console, they should get back in the race. Meanwhile, Sony is trying to get more market share for their hand help gaming system, PSP.

If you feel like you want a home console's power in the palm of your hand, then PSP would be an awesome thing for you to have. It does however lack the pick and the play and several other games kept it from being sold like it probably should have. The next generation of the PSP is called the PSP Go and is a little bit different from its first generation cousin. It is smaller, by nearly 40% and lighter by nearly the same amount.



The screen is amazing and Sony figured that they didnt need to add a second analog stick and went with the same basic control scheme of the first versions of the system. The screen flips up so it is much more compact and the real difference between the systems is the lack of UMDs. There are no discs or cartridges to speak of, everything is downloaded. You just log onto Sonys gaming home site and purchase whichever games you want and download them right to your system. You will need a memory stick of course and a built in memory. Everything will be organized on a 16G memory stick.

The thing that sets this system apart from other hand held game systems is its ability to be more than just a gaming system. It can organize your music and pictures as well as any other media that you want like movies and T.V. shows. This is a full line entertainment system and is not just limited to games. Sony hasnt announced yet if all the UMDs that you have already purchased will be available online if you upgrade to the new GO as opposed to the old model.

There may be no need to upgrade if you have the newest version of the original PSP, but there are some advantages to this new one. First of all it is much more portable that the original. You dont have to lug around all those UMDs around anymore, you just grab your GO and hit the road. It will be available in October and will be available in two colors, black and white.
